Codachrome - a time of road dreams DVD'Codachrome - a time of road dreams' is now in production. Its form is as a DVD feature, and it will have a running time of between 100 to 120 minutes, covering the full fourteen years that I spent on the road. For those who are familiar with the earlier television series 'Road Dreams' it will have some parallels, though there will also be a range of new imagery and music. As so much of that world has now been swept away there is a strong sense of revisiting a past time in the movie's scenes. It is, of course, rarely a straightforward process to look back - the past is another country as they say - but there was, despite the difficulties of a precarious life, a great deal of joy and stimulation in this unplanned journey of exploration. An awareness of Jack Kerouac's 'On the Road' was always there (down to the detail of a shared birthday), and if 'Codachrome' can be anywhere as near as effective a window on to another time as that book, it will have succeeded.
