| The images in the slide show are freeze frames taken from the Road Dreams film diary. I didn't take all that many photographs during my film diary days, partly because lugging two cameras around is just too much effort (and certainly encumbering where a swift response is required), but also because I'm aware that I tend to use the movie camera rather like a still camera. |  Click for slide show. | That is, the response is mainly to single scenes rather than a developing sequence. It's more like building a collection of moving photographs. Of course, these individual shots have to be strung together in order to develop movie momentum, but that's a separate task. In the meantime, away from the film editing timeline, it does seem appropriate to present these images as stills. |
The RetroRoadTrips DVD (featuring 13 short road trip films) will be ready in November 2008 (please see Production Notes in the Weblog), and Codachrome - a time of road dreams will be issued as soon as possible after that (summer 2009 is the intended release date). Codachrome is a natural development of the earlier Road Dreams television series from 1989 and will be issued as a DVD feature, incorporating original music by Rik Loveridge, François Godefroy and Richie Gilks, who all contributed to the Road Dreams soundtrack.
